Hours, prices, sign up etc.  Music suggestions

Lindy hop comes from the neighbourhood of Harlem in New York which in the start of the 20th century was a melting pot of afro americans and emigrants from South Europe. There, during the so called swing era of 1920-1940s, Lindyhop was developed from other dances such as charlson, tap, the hop, Texas Tommy etc.

Unlike most other ballrooms of that time that were segregated the Savoy Ballroom had a mixed black and white crowd and it was the home of the lindyhop. Eventually more and more tourists starts visiting the Savoy to watch the lindy. To entertain them the dancers started doing more and more acrobatic routines.

The Lindy hop came to Europe with the second world war and was later developed to other dances such as Rock 'n' roll, jitterbug, jive and bugg. During the 1980s and greatly thanks to some Swedish lindyhop enthusiasts, a new revival wave of lindy hop started.

Today lindy hop is danced both socially and as a competition dance. The improvisation, musicality and the joy of dancing are the core elements of the lindy and something that is transmitted already from the first lesson.
