I love to dance. I love to play. And I love to feel JOY, which is what fills my entire being when I dance Nia®!
In my childhood and adolescence I took ballet, jazz, and modern dance classes. As an adult I turned to aerobics, kickboxing and Jazzercise. I also took classes in Irish dance, salsa, merengue, bachata and swing. Following a back injury, I began to practice yoga and became interested in more holistic approaches to movement and health.
After eight years of practicing yoga, I discovered Nia® and I haven't stopped dancing since! The incorporation of Eastern and Western philosophies and diverse movement forms offered me the holistic approach I was looking for. Nia's combination of dance arts, martial arts and healing arts addresses the whole persons body, mind, emotions, and spirit. "Dancing Through Life" has become my way of life!
I was trained to teach Nia in the United States. In 2010, I completed my Nia White Belt Intensive Training and in 2011, I earned my Green Belt. I obtained my teacher certification for The Nia 5 Stages with Nia's co-founder, Debbie Rosas, in August 2011.
