Once you have learned the basic steps and the most common turns in salsa you are ready for this level. We will continue with the Cuban style but we will also start with the even more elegant LA-style, learning popular turns and techniques as well beautiful body movements.
Cuban salsa is a rather intense, happy and misschievous style. You dance with and for your partner mostly. The combinations are usually circular and the movements have a strong Afro-Cuban connection. Rueda de Casino is a popular way of dancing Cuban salsa with the whole group.
LA style has more emphesis on outward expression. The turns are elegant and there is a stronger influence from jazz. Snappy double and tripple spins, arm and head styling are common and the dance suits it self readily for shows and competitions as well as social dancing. Los Angeles style, Chicago style, New York style, Puertorican style are all similar dialects recognised by the couples movements mostly along a streight line.
By combining both Cuban and LA style in this course we will practice dancing with precision and speed as well as learning fun tricks and beautiful body movements.
