Argentinian Tango - Technique classes
A good tango dancer needs among other things good technique, large repertoar of steps, good musicality and ofcourse a good communication with the partner.
In our ordinary tango courses we try to work with all these aspects at the same time and we put a big emphesis on the technique. Unfortunately there is not
enough time to practice as much technique as we would like to. Also not all students like to learn tango in that way.
That is why we have the technique courses as a complement to our ordinary tango lessons. The course is interesting for all dancers wanting to become
better at tango and who are not afraid to sweat a little along the way. Tecnicas are a proven concept not the least in Buenos Aires and we are happy
to be able to offer it also in Uppsala.
och vi är glada att kunna erbjuda det också i Uppsala.
What is technique and basic technique?
For us technique is the ability to achieve different movements and positions in the body.
Basic technique is the technique used all the time in the dance and which are the basis for all other technique. Balance, posture and coordination are examples of that.
Why do we need technique in tango?
Most tango dancers development, especially the followers, is often limited by their basic technique. Without the technique it will be impossible to lead/follow correctly
or to express the music in a free way. Without technique the dance will not look very good and is often felt tense and uncomfortable. A good technique is a
requirement for a good feeling in dance.
Hur do you learn good technique?
The most common way is to dance for many years and to learn the technique along the way. The drawback is that it takes a long time and the result is often uneven. In the meanwhile
it is common to feel frustrated and unispired. Many stop dancing all together or start blaming everything on their partners :)
We think a more efficient way is to
1 - find out what is the correct way of doing the movements.
2 - making especial excercises to learn the correct technique.
3 - to practice alot in order to make the technique automathic so that you can do it correctly also while thinking of other things.
What do we do in the course?
We practice basis technique such as:
- posture
- balance
- walking
- pivoting
- dissociation between the head, upper body, hips and the feet
- controlling the center
- coordination
- speed, agility and strength
And special technique such as:
- boleos
- ganchos
- enrosques
- molineta
- walking in hight heels
- lapis, planeos
- decorations for men and women
You don't need to sign up with a partner. We will work mostly alone and without a partner. You can dropin for 150kr/lesson or sign up for the whole course below.
Please come in comfortable clothes so that you can prolong the movements and work on the floor (not jeans).
Bring a bottle of water.
Welcome!

Our ambition is to have the same number of men and women in the courses. Therefore we will give priority to those who sign up in couples (This does not apply to solo dances like Street, Flamenco or Jazz).
But it is also alright to sign up alone. During the classes we will change dance partners all the time.
Please fill in all the fields in the form below. Please send a separate form for your partner.
